I Love and I Hate You

i love and i hate you
with your charm and debonair
building castles out of words
and sporting a head full of hair

i worship and despise you
for your beauty and your grace
never knowing what you’re thinking
behind that pokerface

grudge upon grudge
eating at your core
love upon love
surrendering to more
poetry and pain
sticks and stones and pride
ego like a stain
will not be denied

i love and i hate you
growing like an unkept lawn
no points or punctuation
you treat me as a pawn

i worship and despise you
with your sunglasses and lies
you are my own reflection
when i look into your eyes

word upon word
stories never told
love upon love
too meek to be bold
melody and passion
grapes right off the vine
order and disorder
order and disorder
drinking up your wine
