Embrace the Loop

In the past, I’ve complained about the nature of writing, composing, and creating art. My primary complaint has been simple. We often get stuck in a loop. Heck, I quit blogging at my four previous websites for exactly that reason. I felt stuck in a loop.

This site is different. I’m not trying to sell anybody anything. I’m not attempting to be some kind of sage or guru. I’m simply practicing and documenting my creative works. I’m sharing my thoughts about the creative process. Can that still be repetitive? Yes. But it’s different.

In the six months since starting this site, I’ve created new essays, regurgitated some old ones, written poetry, and composed new music. It can still feel like I’m stuck in a loop, but it’s my loop. Instead of repeating myself with the goal of marketing or selling, I’m continually studying and commenting on my own creative processes. With each loop, I improve my skills and focus on new elements of creativity. Instead of resisting, I embrace the loop.

The time is nearing for me to slow down here. I’ve been posting daily since starting this site. However, now that the Anderhill music catalog is almost completely up to date as individual posts, I’ll be dialing things back a notch. That was the original vision. – dse
