Dan Steven Erickson has been writing songs since he was a teenager. He's written in a variety of genres including, pop, rock, country, blues, and Americana. His songs span a large slice of topics from love to heartbreak to politics and spirituality. As a graduate student at Washington State University, Dan studied the life of Woody Guthrie and published his master's thesis on Guthrie's protest music.

Dan's primary writing instrument is the acoustic guitar, but he also writes on the piano, ukulele, mandolin, and banjo. He started his musical journey playing the trumpet and then played drums in rock & roll bands for several years before picking up the guitar.

Although it's not his primary focus, Dan also has a love for novelty songs and enjoys writing quirky lyrics that tell stories that might be based on real characters or might be a little out of this world. Make sure to check out his YouTube Channel where he is currently cataloging much of his older work and adding new songs regularly.

Dan has co-written with Steve Graham, JB Taylor, Steve Bryant, Paul Erickson, Pete Erickson, and others. For a full list of his current archived song recordings, click here.
