Little

in the big picture,
you’re so little,
and what you do
of little significance.

does anybody really need
another pop song
or a predictable photo of a sunset?
will your paint-by-number
art change the world?
does your sermon
really matter?

who are we to believe
we have any purpose
beyond simply serving
something higher than ourselves,
be it God or the greater good
of collective humanity?

you’re little and so are you’re
so-called works of art.
but if your little work
touches or teaches one soul,
if you make one person
think or feel,
maybe you’ve done
a little good in this world.
