Get Your Groove On

Something funny happens sometimes when you least expect it. You find your groove.

If you’re a musician you know that groove is key to making danceable music. It’s that bass and drum combination that makes us want to move our feet and shake our butts. How does a great band find the groove? Through experimentation.

Groove is not limited to music. As a poet and writer, you can get into a funk. Nothing comes, or what does come sucks. It happens to all artists. But you can still find the groove. How? If I could answer that legitimately I’d be king, or God. The truth is, no one really knows exactly. But I do know this.

You’ll never get into a groove if you don’t move. You have to play that guitar every day. Pick up your paint brushes. Put the pen to paper. Work. Play. Experiment. Don’t do what you did yesterday. Try something different. Groove.

And when you find your groove, ride that wave as long as you can. – dse
