Sometimes a location can inspire my musical compositions. Such is the case with Musical Sketches from Discovery Bay. In fact, the album was a purposeful study in creating music that was inspired by a place.
In December of 2020 I spent three days in a small cabin overlooking the water of Discovery Bay near Port Townsend Washington. I went with the goal of creating music that reflected the location and how the place made me feel. The eight tracks on Musical Sketches from Discovery Bay, released on January 19, 2021, were all composed during that three-day visit.
I hope you enjoy the quiet reflection and meditative quality of this music as much as I loved the process of creating it. – dse
