It doesn’t matter what it is, just make something.
If you want to be more creative or you’re in a creative lull, just make something.
I don’t believe in so-called writer’s block. It’s an excuse. Sure, we can get stuck. We can have downtime. Creativity can lead us into rabbit holes. But if you want to create, just make something.
It doesn’t have to be the thing you planned on making. It doesn’t have to be just right. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece. Just make something.
Write, paint, sing, record music, take pictures, make something.
When I’m struggling to be creative in one area, I simply do something else. So when musical composing is in a lull, I write a poem. If the poems aren’t coming, I go take photos. If I can’t get a good shot, I go home and play my guitar. It works. It keeps creativity flowing.
So get out and do it. Just make something. – dse
