Book Projects

I have a couple of book projects in the works.

The first is something I started last winter. It’s a story of a man who becomes a high-school counselor in town that’s full of crime and drugs. He deals with an unfathomable reality that he never knew existed. The working title is “Y.” I’m about a third through the process of completing the first draft of that story.

However, I’ll need to put that book on hold for awhile. I’ve been approved to take a short sabbatical from my teaching duties this fall. My sabbatical project is to take a class or two on memoir writing and then to rewrite my own childhood story.

You can get the original story, A Train Called Forgiveness at Amazon.

The updated version of that story will be a non-fictional memoir. In the original story I used fictional names for people and places. I took some creative freedoms that may have exaggerated or added a few situations for emotional effect.

I have no certain information about publishing. I’m not even sure I will publish. Self-publishing may not be something I consider this time around. Finding a traditional publisher would be preferred. Time will tell.

Check back for updates. – dse
