Sailing Into the Perfect Storm

I’ve just released new music by A Cult of Lies and it’s epic. Introducing: Sailing Into the Perfect Storm. This composition is a mix of synthesizer, choir samples, and short-wave radio static. It was mixed and remixed using heavy amounts of echo and reverb. The result is a continuing journey of groundbreaking new sounds from A Cult of Lies.

Starting with the track Relentless, I’ve been taking A Cult of Lies in a new direction. The first two recordings, He Called Himself Michael the Archangel but He Was Born to Destroy and Everything You’ve Ever Dreamed Is Possible were full-length albums that were darker than Anderhill, but still used some of the same compositional processes. But beginning in 2021, I started working on heavier droning sonic experiments. It started with Relentless, and then earlier this year I released, Just for a Moment I Thought the World Was Normal Again.

Like the music, the photo is also heavily distorted. It’s a picture of the ocean just before dawn using maximum digital zoom along the Oregon Coast. Enjoy Sailing Into the Perfect Storm. – dse
