What’s 2024 going to bring? Honestly, I’m not exactly sure. I have lots of options and possibilities but no absolutes. I like it that way. But for the sake of an end-of-the-year post, here are some things that are on my mind.
First, a quick recap of 2023. These are some things I did this year:
- Deep rewrite of my first book, A Train Called Forgiveness.
- Attended the Rodney Crowell Songwriting Camp.
- Attended Rachael Cerrotti’s, Writing Truth in Memoir and Nonfiction.
- Wrote 60 songs on the ukulele.
- Composed several new Anderhill electronic and ambient works.
- Taught communication courses at Yakima Valley College, University of New Hampshire, and Southern Maine Community College.
Onward to 2024 and some possibilities:
- Continue to work on my memoir, Cult Boy, based on A Train Called Forgiveness. This might include creating a podcast, working one-on-one with an experienced author/editor, and finding a traditional publisher.
- Continue to develop other stories such as Y and The Happiest Part. That’s all on that for now.
- Put together a new book of poetry using poems I’ve written over the past few years. (What I post here is a small fraction of the poetry and lyrics I’ve written in the past few years.)
- Work on a new songwriting project. I have 60 potential lyrics ready. The plan is to write songs using the electric guitar in 2024, but that could change.
- Continue to produce electronic music as Anderhill and A Cult of Lies.
- Start doing some live music performance and/or speaking.
- Continue to teach at YVC and SMCC.
- Do more physical activity and photography.
As you see, the list for 2024 is long. I will definitely complete many of the items of this list, maybe all of them. Or I might switch gears completely and surprise everyone, including myself. I don’t like to make promises or resolutions. So I’ll just leave it there and see what happens. Here’s to 2024. – dse
