I don’t do resolutions. I don’t set hard goals. But I do have some idea of the direction I’ll be going this year. So here are some things to come in 2025.
- New Songs: Of all my creative ventures, songwriting is my favorite. I started writing songs when I eight years old. I’ve written nearly 1500 songs. And although some days I ask myself what’s the point, I love songwriting. So you can expect new songs. I’ve already written several this year on the guitar, the ukulele, and the mandolin.
- A YouTube Channel: I’ve been reluctant to share simple video recordings of my songwriting. That will change soon. I’m getting past the point of caring whether I’m good enough. Or if the video is good enough. Expect simple non-produced videos of me with a single instrument performing my songs. I might also do some videos about my writing process.
- Networking: I’m not going to go all out and try to make hundreds of connections and expect to get my work discovered. But I will slowly begin the process of networking in the music world. After all, I am in Music City.
- Performing: I probably won’t be doing a world tour. I might only perform a handful of times this year. But I will begin looking for places and opportunities to perform both as a solo artist and with others.
As you see, I’m primarily focusing on songwriting. However, don’t be surprised if I also compose some ambient music, write some poetry, and do more photography. I might start a book project. Who knows?
The way I see it is simple. I’m in the Nashville region. I may as well see what I can discover in the music world here. So, that’s where I’ll start in 2025. – dse
