As I slow down my output here, I’d also like to make this place a more complete reflection of my art and life. That means taking a deeper look at the spiritual elements. No, I’m not going to turn the site into a religious site. But the fact is, whether we want to claim it or not, that we all have a spiritual presence in the world.
Music, poetry, and art is all born of spirit. It might be the spirit of the ocean, or the spirit of the land. It may stem from a deep sense of longing. And yes, there may be some connection to religious-based beliefs.

Although I’ve become less of a believer in the modern-day version of Christianity, I still believe in a Universal Creator. In fact, I believe that the Creator is in me. How else would I be able to create my own artistic works? I believe that Jesus was born of that Creator and walked this Earth, teaching us valuable lessons on how to live at peace with both creation and our fellow humankind.
That said, the spiritual element to my writing will likely focus less on the religious and more on natural mysticism. I may reflect on how music and writing fit into the bigger picture and how they can be a healing presence in our lives. I may create music and art that reflects my own thoughts and feelings about the sacred. Or I might just focus on the spirit of humanity and nature. But the spiritual element will have its place in my writing, my music, and on this site. – dse
