As a practicing musician, I grow and improve at my art. The Lonely Sound of Freedom, released on January 1, 2021, marked a big step in the Anderhill sound.
Although, the style of Anderhill did start to change, by sound, I’m referring to the recording quality itself. Beginning with this recording, I started to implement some new recording techniques. I began to do more stacking of tracks for a fuller sound. I started to play more with reverb and delay. And I started sampling a greater variety of sounds.
For instance, the title track on The Lonely Sound of Freedom includes the opening and closing of my squeaky apartment door. Nobody is being locked in. They’re breaking out. That’s the lonely sound of freedom. – dse
