The Blues Is Colorblind

I know where the blues started
Yeah, I know where they come from
In today’s world there ain’t no telling
Just who is gonna get ‘em
Now, I was born up north
A white boy son of a preacher man
I was the victim of some bad juju
That’s when I began to understand

The blues is colorblind
Everybody’s welcome to play
Yeah, the blues is colorblind
Everybody’s welcome to play
Guess I’ll just keep on playing
Straight up until my dying day

The blues has a lot of tolerance
And the blues got a lot of love
Everybody is an equal at the table
Ain’t no prejudice from above
Doesn’t matter if you’re a woman or a man
Black, white, religious, or gay
If you feel it deep down in your soul
You know, anybody can learn to play

The blues is colorblind
Everybody’s welcome to play
Yeah, the blues is colorblind
Everybody’s welcome to play
Guess I’ll just keep on playing
Straight up until my dying day

But there are things the blues won’t accept
Like fascism, discrimination, and hate
But if you’ve got an open heart and an open mind
Come join us and celebrate

Cuz  the blues is colorblind
Everybody’s welcome to play
Yeah, the blues is colorblind
Everybody’s welcome to play
Guess I’ll just keep on playing
Straight up until my dying day
