Supermarket

look what we’ve done.
we’ve built the biggest
supermarket
in the world.

you can get anything you want:
tomatoes, popcorn, fishing bait, smart phones.
but you can’t exit,
even if you pay,
and even when you walk out that door.
there’s no way out.

how will you talk to your brother,
your daughter, your friends,
without that device in your pocket?

you can throw your computer in the river,
or smash it with a sledge hammer,
like a tomato.
but how will you work and pay your bills?

yes, we’ve built the biggest
supermarket
in the world,
and we called it Greedy’s.

we have the goods you want:
steak, potatoes, shoes, shirts, marshmallows,
hygiene products, and drugs.
but we don’t have maps,
and we have no soul.
