i love the feel of an empty
room, all that space
creating a place to breathe.
it’s what i need.
you can put me up in a
studio flat uptown,
1000 square feet with
nothing more
than a twin-sized bed
in the corner,
an old wooden chair,
a Gibson LG-2,
dishes in the cupboards,
clothes in the closet,
a bicycle,
and a toothbrush
by the faucet.
hang a nude on one wall,
and a map of the city on the
other.
that’s enough.
no more.
or you might make a
clutter
and ruin everything.
