My Future in Photography

FujiFilm XT30-II, Photo by Dan Steven Erickson

I’m likely never going to be a famous photographer. I may never get paid for any of my future photo work. However, I have taken the first steps toward my future in photography, whatever that may be.

I recently purchased at FujiFilm XT30-II camera. I’m still in the learning mode. I hope to take my first photos within the next week. However, I likely won’t share much of my work until I get comfortable with the camera and the process.

It Might Be a Pre-Retirement Thing

I’m not retired yet. I’m still working two jobs. I’m a part-time college instructor, and I’m working part time at Cabela’s. Still, that might change any day now. I may be taking on a new full-time position soon. More on that later.

Photography takes a lot of time. So, if I work another 5 years at the full-time level, I’ll likely only be practicing on a limited basis. I envision a day when I might put a lot of effort into becoming a great photographer, but for now it’ll have to remain one of many side projects.

One goal I’ve always strived toward is to create music, poetry, and photography that all complement one another. Hopefully, that might still come to fruition in time.

For now, I’ll be learning and shooting behind the scenes. In due time, I will likely add a larger presence of photography to this site. In the meantime, I hope you keep coming back for updates and to see what else is new. – dse
