An Old Man Shouting

The temperature is rising
The tide is coming in
The storms are getting stronger
The preacher screams about sin
Do you really think anyone’s listening?

God’s just an old man shouting
About things that he can’t change
Cuz if he could you know he would
Put an end to suffering and pain
God’s just an old man shouting
God’s just an old man shouting

The peons are all getting poorer
The rich get rich and crack the whip
The preacher counts his tax exemption
While God’s conscience starts to slip
Maybe we’re all in the devil’s grip

God’s just an old man shouting
About things that he can’t change
Cuz if he could you know he would
Put an end to suffering and pain
God’s just an old man shouting
God’s just an old man shouting

Man took a book and made it doctrine
Taught fear and hate across the Earth
God just stood by and didn’t lift a finger
While preachers preach about rebirth
You can crawl out of the womb
And watch another school shooting

God’s just an old man shouting
About things that he can’t change
Cuz if he could you know he would
Put an end to suffering and pain
God’s just an old man shouting
God’s just an old man shouting
